Rick Hammond is an equity Shareholder of Johnson & Bell, Ltd., and he holds a Chartered Life Underwriter's (CLU) designation. He represents a number of national insurers and corporations on matters relating to insurance coverage, and commercial and fraud litigation.
Rick is the former head of the State of Illinois Department of Insurance's Chicago office, and he has held management positions in claims and agency for two national insurers. He also served as Executive Director of the Insurance Committee for Arson Control (ICAC), a national trade association, and he currently serves as their legal counsel.
Rick is on the Board of Directors of the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel and an editor of their statewide magazine, "The IDC Quarterly." He is also on the Board of Directors and faculty of the Insurance School of Chicago where he teaches Insurance Law, and a columnist for the International Association of Special Investigative Units' (IASIU) Magazine, "SIU Awareness."
Rick is a Vice-chair of the Property Insurance Law Committee of the American Bar Association, a member of the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel, former Chair of the Insurance Law Section Council for the Illinois State Bar Association, and a frequent presenter, nationally and internationally, for a variety of insurance and law related companies and organizations.
